I was born in 1954 and grew up in New York City. In the summer and weekends my family went to East Hampton to a house on David’s Lane. At the end of the lane, at the bottom of the hill was a nature preserve; as a child this served as my sanctuary and private world. From an early age, I could wake up before anyone else, walk down the hill and enter the preserve to walk, explore and play in the secret paths. I believe this accounts for my connection to nature and landscape that has informed my work and life.
