Cape Paintings and Other Work
Form and landscape came together with this series. The landscape of the Northwest is a world that has visual meaning for me; gray skies, the lushness of green everywhere and the ocean. The Cape paintings reflect that. The Georgica Pond painting is based on my memory of a view from Wainscott, Long Island, but seemed to fit in well with this group.
Mughal Paintings
I was fascinated by how landscapes are portrayed in Mughal Miniature paintings from the Mughal Empire (16th to 18th centuries). There is a flatness and a fantasy quality that appealed to me. I incorporated those qualities and took inspiration to create a series of paintings.

Eccentric Hedges
The hedge paintings grew out of my travels to England and Italy. I spent much of that time looking at and photographing gardens. The hedges were often monolithic and abstract. I was entranced.
